An Author Celebration!

Meet Room 5's Authors and Illustrators:

Room 5 should be very proud of their hard work! Each student has completed their own personal narrative about our Halloween celebrations. To celebrate, students got a chance to read their story aloud with the microphone and sit in the "comfy" author's chair!! We had a great audience eager to hear their classmate's writing and share their illustrations.
Check out some of our photos below:

We can't wait to share our books with you at conferences!

Fundations:

Our two new letters this week were:

"Souper" Week!

Room 5 was "Souper" Busy This Week!

Our Theme this week was inspired by the Folktale Stone Soup

We read 3 different versions of Stone Soup:

After reading we compared and contrasted all of the stories.
We even used the folktale as inspiration for a new class book! Be sure to be on the look out for another Room 5 masterpiece!

We cut out some ingredients from food flyers we thought would make a good Stone Soups.

Morning Meeting: Shoe Greeting!

During our morning meeting we greet one another to start our day off on the right foot! This week was especially the case when using the shoe greeting to say good morning to one another. Students take off one of their shoes and place it in the middle of the rug. One at a time students take turns selecting a shoe, finding its owner and saying good morning to that person.  The kids loved this greeting!

Fundations:

s-snake /s/      and        d-dog /d/

*Practice pages will be sent home Monday but we will skip Thanksgiving week. *

Art Projects:

We painted Sunsets after reading Legend of the Indian Paintbrush
