Week 1

We not only survived....we ROCKED IT!! 

Our first week of school has been filled with learning, exploring, and fun
Students learned and practiced the many routines in Kindergarten.  

Learning...

Students learned how to arrive, walk in line, sit at a table, sit on the rug, how to get in and out of the cafeteria and how to write our names. We learned how to greet friends during Morning Meeting. We learned how to raise your hand when needing to speak. We are learning about characters and their different personality traits too!
 Scaredy Squirrel is my favorite!!

Exploring. . .

Guided discoveries are a great way for students to explore new materials and tools in our classroom. During math, we because Mathematicians!!  We explored counters, cubes, and pattern blocks. We even used our math tool boxes!

FUN. . .

Room 5 LOVES to have FUN!! 
We love to laugh, sing silly songs, and DANCE!

Final Thoughts. . .

- Emails went out to parents about scheduling a check-in phone call about your child's first week of school. If you have a preferable day/time please email me

-Field trip forms for Apple Picking were sent home...please send in permission slips and money asap.

- Back to school night is Wednesday, September 21st at 6:30pm....Come learn about our curriculum 

- Our Class Directory is being finalized and will be sent home to keep next week. 

-Room 5 visits the school's library on Monday!!!! Students will borrow a book and need to return it before the following Monday. (More information to come) 

- Look out for our first classbook! Room 5 are already becoming very impressive writers! 

- Thank you for packing your child with a lunch and snack. It has made a WONDERFUL first week transition.  Feel free to have your child start buying lunch if needed. 

-Mrs. Johnson held a school-wide assembly to talk about belonging.

- Our class hopes and dreams will be posted for your viewing at open house! The kids are very excited to share their BIG PLANS for kindergarten....I have my work cut out for me =) 

Birthday Wishes. . . 
Happy Birthday Sophie!!! Thanks for being SO brave to share your birthday poster with us! We love seeing it hung up in our classroom.

Again. . .thank you for all your help and cooperation this first week. There were only a few tears but they were quickly consoled and transformed into smiles the minute they walked into the classroom. 

I can't wait to share about our second week of school!
