Spring is Here!
(Tune: Are you Sleeping)
Spring is here.
Spring is here.
Goodbye snow.
Flowers grow.
Birds and bees.
Leaves on trees.
Hello, spring.
Hello, spring.
Room 5 has been singing this poem all week in hopes of some "springy" weather!
"Egg-cellent" Work

Students are cracking up over the "egg-xtra" work!
-We Read There was an Old Lady who Swallowed an Chick and sequenced the events in the story.
-We made tissue paper chicks
-We Cracked into our 5 new sight words for the week.
-Tapping out words is more fun when they are stuffed in an egg!
-Look out for our Build it, Write it, Draw it spring sentences.
Fundations
Here's a snip-it of our daily routine for fundations:
Drill Sounds: Students practice saying 10-12 consonants and vowels
Sight Words: We read and spell each sight word. Sometimes we use the words in a sentence.
Tapping: Students are given multiple cvc words to say, tap, and spell. This is reinforced throughout our centers.
Magnet Boards/White Boards: Twice a week students have the opportunity to build or write their letters and words for mastery.
Digraphs
Starting this week, students were introduced to a digraph.
A digraph is when two letters come together to make one sound.
For Example: The word Chip: /ch/ /i/ /p/ The digraph ch makes one sound.
ch-chin-/ch/
Healthy Habits

Students and teachers have been extra diligent in our hand washing and applying hand sanatizer!
The Flu season is among us!
The nurse asks that we remind parents; if your child is sick and has a fever they are not allowed to come to school until they have "Fever Free" for 24 hours.
